Some people avoid confrontation not because they don’t care, but because conflict feels emotionally overwhelming. This same dynamic can show up with compliments too. These moments ask us to face something deep within ourselves, which can make the experience feel surprisingly (or unsurprisingly) uncomfortable.
Sometimes the people most uncomfortable with conflict are also the most uncomfortable with praise, because both require staying emotionally present with something deep
