Trauma Informed Yoga

About the Group

A safe and supportive yoga therapy group designed to help individuals heal and reconnect with their bodies through trauma-informed practices that promote relaxation, resilience, and empowerment.


No yoga experience is needed.

Each yoga session will include:

  • Mindfulness/Meditation used for resourcing and grounding within the practice

  • Theming and sequencing that helps participants learn how to feel within their bodies the various states of upregulation and downregulation

  • Somatic resources interwoven within each yoga practice

  • Supportive guidance in poses and movements to meet all participant’s needs

  • Techniques and support to help participants take steps in feeling safe in their bodies


Week 1 Theme: Resourcing and Grounding

  • Setting the foundation for resourcing the mind and body through grounding and centering techniques to return to the body


Week 2 Theme: Come As You Are

  • Mindfulness in turning toward self with compassion while gaining information from the body


Week 3 Theme: Doing Less and Receiving More

  • Our Yin session will provide participant’s insight in their bodies of how doing less and holding stillness can do more for the body


Week 4 Theme: Ease vs Tension

  • Progressive relaxation techniques interwoven within our slow flow sequence to support participants to find trust in not remaining in hyperarousal


Week 5 Theme: Each Step of the Journey

  • Turning toward your parts as insight in the present moment


Week 6 Theme: Reflection

  • Sequencing and mindfulness intentionally focused on reflecting on gained insight received from the body throughout our practice
